GENERAL INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
OBJECTIVES OF THE CONFERENCE
The conference “City behind Walls – Identity versus Image” and its accompanying activities are focused on the identity and image of a historical city in the contemporary multicultural Europe. The conference aims to speak about how and why different European historical cities are trying to regard and pass on the inherited historical message and spiritual values to next generations. Our attention is concentrated especially to the issue of multi-discipline communication and collaboration. The conference will also formulate shared final statements projecting the experience from concrete projects of historical cities into the context of contemporary Europe. The conference will give us the opportunity to think together about the identity and image of our European home.
SPEAKERS
Speakers invited for the conference must have a good knowledge of the city development topics and be able to present their city from different viewpoints. These viewpoints concern urban planning, the city’s vision, and important strategic decisions or key solutions that have contributed or will contribute in a most significant way to a positive (or negative?) image of the city. This knowledge can be presented by two persons as well. Presenters must be able to tell about several concrete examples, concrete initiatives or actions in your city suchas described in your contribution. These examples must have influenced and most likely will continue to influence the perception of the city by its own inhabitants or their visitors.
